Author Bio: The author is a veteran of 28 years in the U.S. Army, his career having spanned the period from World War II through the end of the Vietnam conflict. He entered the service from his home state of Kentucky and rose through the ranks from Private to Lieutenant Colonel. Oglesby served in Airborne, Special Forces and Special Operations, and was a Battalion Commander of the 3rd Battalion 1st Infantry of the Americal Division in Vietnam. His exemplary service brought him a number of awards, including two Silver Stars, the legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, seven Bronze Stars and numerous Army and Air Force Commendation Medals, along with two Purple Heart Medals. Colonel Oglesby and his wife Grace each have three grown sons. They now live in retirement in Seffner, Florida where he spends his time writing and fishing.

Book Description:   This collections of stories were told over and over, mostly in the 1930s, in west-central Kentucky. In the 1930's there were no televisions, very few radios, and no electrical power, at least not out in the hill country of Kentucky. It was in the late 30's that people began to get electricity. It was a big day when the Tennessee Valley Authority strung lines on poles, and sometimes along tree tops, to get power out to the extreme rural areas. House wiring was two wires run side by side about three inches apart to the center of a room then both wires dropped down to a single bulb fixture. Most home owners tried to get at least wiring to each room and there were no wall plugs. Before then entertainment meant the older people and the natural story-tellers told of ghosts, wild beasts, and other strange things that had happened. Listening to these tales would bring goose-bumps on my skin, and some of the good ones made me feel like my hair was standing straight up from scalp. These tales were told by different people, and often changed with the person telling them. Names were often different from previously told, and the author has deliberately changed a few of the names since he found on a recent visit to the area that some of the old families were still living there. Most of these tales of ghosts and fearsome things occurred during the thirties, or earlier, but men came home from World War II telling stories of strange things that had happened; I guess proving that ghosts are everywhere - if you believe in them.
