Charles Herman hired an experienced builder to build his "dream house" in 1994. Within sixty days of completion, the roof leaked, walls cracked, bricks fell off the front of the house, etc. It was the lemon of all lemons. The builder refused to repair the defects. When the author tried to sue, the builder and the bank had already taken steps to prevent him from suing. The author, a Chief Engineer of three corporations, a Licensed Professional Engineer, and President of three corporations, found it incrediblle he had been snookered. And worse yet, when his job took him to another community he found it impossible to sell his house because of the obvious defects. The bank forclosed and he lost everything.
The author spent ten years researching how fraud was perpetrated upon him and other house buyers. He learned that more than 100,000 people lose their homes to foreclosure each year – perhaps many because of fraud like he experienced. He then developed a plan and put it into this book, enabling people to purchase a quality house safely and avoid the scams. If he had read this book in 1994, it would have saved him more than $50,000 and a lot of heartache.
