the Author: |
Gale Baker is a published poet, performer/songwriter and playwright from Tennessee. She was first recognized as a jazz singer when her first album, “Way Out With Gale” was “pick hit” for thirteen straight weeks. She started writing on the firing line as opening act for stars like Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles. An actress, Gale starred in musicals like The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking it On the Road, Light Up The Sky, and a multitude of film and TV roles including Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, True Confessions (for which she also wrote) and General Hospital. Eight of Gale’s plays have been produced including her multi award winning country musical, Waterin’ Hole. Her highly acclaimed play Pin Curls continues to be a popular pick on the College Theater Circuit. Gale is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Blue Ribbon judging panel, a member of the Dramatist Guild and ASCAP, as well as the performing unions SAG, AEA & AFTRA. A permanent resident of Las Vegas, she continues to write music and scripts, while maintaining a busy career in production for commercials and films. Other works by Gale Baker include nonfiction Neon Queens as well as fiction titles Lady in Distress, The Biggest Business, Ginny and The Hobos, Rough Ride to Hell, Ravings of Velma Granville plus 100 Questions to ask yourself before you say goodbye and others.
