This true travel story set in the Fifties tells the adventures of a military family driving from Fairbanks, Alaska to Orlando, Florida over the dangerous, ice covered Alcan highway in the middle of a freezing Alaskan Winter. This story provides exciting details of what it was like to drive over a thousand miles on pure ice and snow; the beauty, the danger, the drama, and even a tale of tragedy, all part of driving the Alcan Highway.

About the Author:
The Author following World War II service in the US Army; attended college, worked in a few civilian jobs and then returned to military service, this time in the US Air Force. In the mid-fifties, the Author and his family were sent to a base near Fairbanks, Alaska when Alaska was still a Territory. The Author drove the Alcan Highway more than once and has some great stories to tell. After Alaska, the author and his family lived in many other locations throughout his military career.
