| About
Our Book: |
CRISIS SURVIVAL A Los Angeles County Emergency Crisis, a wide-spread electricity BLACKOUT, propagates into a statewide disaster. Several events prey on the typical inadequacies of many U.S. cities' utilities, and their lacking of physical and security infrastructures. It begins with the loss of LA's electrical supply, which ultimately lasts for four weeks. The entire country degenerates economically and politically as a result. Low-tech terrorism is the initial cause of the problem; but, the inability of the USA's on-demand society to exist and survive, is of it's own cultures making. The terrorists persist with annoying anomalies to the point that the President is asked to demand the shutdown of all on-line services. The US Government is pushed to the brink of collapse and decides to a take drastic action. Could our government be pushed to such extremes in retaliation? And to what end? Or do we, as New Age Pilgrims, take the law into our own hands? Your vote! The events are lived through by two sets of characters to show how different generations cope with such tragedies. These events are typical of any Blackout considerations that need to be considered for the effected citizens' health and welfare, such as exist today in California.

| About
the Author: |
Michael J. Krisman, Jr. A Kansas City, Kansas kid, mid W.W.II vintage. From the Missouri River bottoms, stockyards workers to up-town Croatian crowd. Older brother to seven; and, first born to hard working, depression marked parents. Rural upbringing. Settled in California three different times between four newborns. I worked in the nuclear industry, building and starting up power plants. I did a lot of writing of technical materials and of plant accidents emergency drill scenarios. I'm extending those experiences in to this novel to relate them to a real time scenario. I felt the need to entertain and educate the population, as much as possible, on the pending power crisis situations which are developing across the country. These shortages and BLACKOUTS, coupled with the Just-In-Time production cycles of much of our industry today, sets itself up for a worst case, nearly untenable, within realism, scenario. Three of these perspectives are presented in the lives of two different sets of characters that play out in this story. Before I forget, I'm dedicating this book to this country's New Millennium Pilgrims, who have their work cut out for them. This story will paint a picture of some past history experiences, which have precipitated to mold these characters, enabling responses to these types of emergency events. Please let me know what you think. I value all critiques and they will help mold a sequel that puts these characters descendants' lives at T+50 years. They can look back at how these events changed the world's future, witnessing the world's ending from an orbiting space station, as a realistic scenario that follows the Apostle John's Book of Revelation.
