| About
Our Book: |
This woman has done what few have dared to venture. Young, naïve and inexperienced as she was, in the spirit of freedom and adventure, she decided to hitchhike around the world ALONE. This account of her travels depicts a girl of courage and independence totally exposing herself to a world almost unknown to her. She accomplishes what most people only ever dream of doing.
Every day brings new adventure whether it is being stranded penniless in Teheran, teaching an English class in a remote village in Pakistan or imbibing of the vine with a Member of Parliament in Delhi. Riding camels in Arabia, driving jeeps in the desert and arriving in exotic places in the middle of the night are all stuff of this bold escapade. A reader feels what it is like to be squashed into an Indian bus, chased through a forest in Germany or get thrown out of a hotel in Istanbul. They come to know the sensations of meandering through the hustle and bustle of an Eastern market or basking in the moonlight at the Taj Mahal.
The journey flows with a gentle, easy grace while simplicity of narration allows the hidden dreams of many readers to become a possibility in their lives. It takes away the fears that paralyze replacing them with the excitement to tantalize. For the adventurer or the armchair traveler this book makes inspiring reading.

| About
the Author: |
In 1970, at the age of 22, Naveena Shine was a fully qualified teacher. She had already hitchhiked alone in England and had found it to be THE most fascinating form of travel. What she had discovered was that others were not the same as she! By exposing herself to a huge variety of different kinds of people she suddenly realized that her narrow, English, middle class point of view might not be all there was, and now she wanted to know more.
With $150 in her pocket and courage in her heart, she set off to explore the world and to discover what life is really about. This is her story and every word is true. She has never really stopped her exploration and nor has she discovered the meaning of life. What’s true is that she has savored every morsel of the search and no longer cares about an outcome. She still travels and lives all over the world. She is presently residing in an Intentional Community in Redmond, WA.
