About the Author:
Richard Schenkar is an attorney who connects people with information they need to be effective. He has a law degree and a Master of Business Administration from Gonzaga University. Soon after passing the bar examination in 1981, he became interested in the possibilities of online research, taught himself how to do it by reading online documentation and by taking many courses, and has since been active in many bar association activities that deal with computers. He served as Chairperson of the Washington State Bar Association's (WSBA) Computerization of Law Division when the WSBA ran its online bulletin-board system and handled the customer-support effort for that system. He has written the legal research section of the "Internet and Technology Law" and the “Law Office Management” sections of the Washington Lawyers Practice Manual. Currently, he serves on the WSBA Electronic Communications Committee, is a member of the Trial News Editorial Board for the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA) and writes a monthly column called "Practical Resources" for the WSTLA Trial News. He also provides a practical tip or source in a free weekly electronic mailing called "Wednesday Wisdom" only to those who request it at Schenkar@aol.com. On the evening he took the oath as an attorney in Washington State in 1981, he presented the first of a series of presentations that were to become this book, Getting Facts that Get Jobs, and continues those presentations today.
