| During the Second World War, banners with a single or multiple stars hung in the front window of a residence, signified a member or members of that household were in the armed services of the country. The Lewandowski family of Lyndhurst, N.J. started with one star when the eldest son, Stanley was in the Navy. Eventually, there were four stars representing Stanley, Willie in the Army Air Force, Walter in the Marines and the youngest of the brothers, Alex in the Army. This is their story. It is told because of a surviving brother's determination to keep the memory of his brothers alive and because every source contacted willingly contributed information to make this book possible. |

the Author: |
The author is a resident of Brick, New Jersey. He was graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in English. He taught English and history in Brick Township, N.J.for many years and recently retired. He is the father of three grown children and has two grandchildren, Billy and Salma.
