| About
Our Book: |
“Before November 22, 1998, I had very little interest in politics. I knew the names of our governor and the two U.S. senators from New Jersey and I have voted in most of the elections, but, basically, politics didn’t appeal to me. All that was about to change.” That was what I thought before the night I heard Bill Bradley speak at Montclair High School. Ostensibly, he was there to promote his new book, "Values of the Game," but he was really speaking about a much larger agenda: his political philosophy and vision for America. As a life-long Republican, I wondered what this leading Democrat would say that was pertinent to me. After listening to him speak about the issues that so deeply concerned him, I realized that those issues were not exclusively Democratic or Republican issues, but rather, ones that concerned all Americans, regardless of their political preferences. I decided then that if he ran for President, I would volunteer to work for him. A couple of weeks later, Bradley made the announcement that he was entering the 2000 Presidential race. Since his campaign headquarters were near where I live, becoming actively involved was easy. The highlight of my work on the campaign was the time I spent in Iowa, in January of 2000, working on the caucuses and participating first-hand in that part of the political process. The experiences that I had, as well as the people I met, conversations, places and events are chronicled in this memoir.
