| About
Our Book: |
| This novel is a story about a team of American foreign agents sent to Italy in 1949 to search for stolen treasures by Nazi German henchmen that were believed to have hidden in caves in northern Italian Alps during World War II. American leaders knew that Russia had sent their best agents to Italy for the same purpose. Their leader, Boris Kavbarco, was rated the number one foreign agent in the world. He was also a ruthless killer. With the American agents were selected veterans of the U. S. Army's elite 10th Mountain Division that fought in the area during World War II. These veterans were allowed to bring their wives along since they all were expert skiiers. There was one exception, however. Our hero, Sal Palaza, had to leave his wife home with their baby son. Also, along on the trip was a single female. It was Sal's lot to pair-up with her. She was young, pretty and sexy. During the five plus weeks on the trip, Sal did his best to remain true to his loving wife back home, and almost prevailed. The search for the caves with stolen property continued until one cold morning Sal and Sandy walked out of one of the largest caves yet entered and stood face to face with Boris Kavbarco. |

the Author: |
As a member of the Army's elite 10th Mountain Division, author Salvatore (Sal) Palazolo and his unit, the 110th Signal Company, were the lead elements of General Mark Clark's Fifth Army at lakeGarda, high in the Alpine Mountains in northern Italy when the remaining German troops in Italy decided to surrender took place in early 1945, and Sal was there. The end of World War II in Europe was nearing. Rumors were bountiful that day. The big one: Hitler's Nazi henchmen had hidden much of the stolen treasures from the occupied European countries in caves in nearby Italian Alps. Orders would soon come down asking for volunteers from the 10th Mountain Division to stay and search for the lost treasures. Sal had other ideas. He was anxious to leave the Army for civilian life back home in Tennessee. When the war ended Sal got his discharge; returned to his Memphis Tennessee home; Married his high shool sweetheart, Peggy Stevenson; took over management of his dad's Produce company, and immediately started work building his own family. Life was good, but Italy had hidden treasures in those Alp caves still lingerd. Soon, a son was born, and all was well. In 1949 Sal got a phone call from Washington that changed everyting. Before long he was on his way back to Italy for that search, and things would never be the same! Sal's fictionalized account of that six month trip follows.
