| About
Our Book: |
The Bible is considered by Christians to be the “Word of God” but is dismissed by sceptics as little more than myth. The debate between Christians and sceptics has for the most part centred on the historical reliability of the Bible and the evidence for the Resurrection of Christ - and rightly so, in the author’s opinion.
Another useful dimension to the debate may be found in comparing what the Bible says about the world with the present situation in our world. "The Word on the World" is an attempt to do this.
By visiting various themes in geopolitics, sociology, history and science that relate to the Bible's worldview, the reader is invited to draw his or her own conclusions about the reasonableness of the author’s belief in God.

| About
the Author: |
Ho Wai Luen (W.L. Ho) studied Economics at the University of Cambridge, UK, where he was the university’s top student in Part I of the Economics Tripos. He obtained his Master’s degree in International & Development Economics from Yale University, USA, where he was a Teaching Fellow in Economics (Game Theory). He was previously top medical science student of Raffles Junior College, one of Singapore’s premier high schools, winning the Professor Lim Pin Trophy. He represented Singapore in the International Chemistry Olympiad held at Beijing, China, in 1995, as well as the Research Science Institute held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, in 1994.
In his spare time, Wai Luen has written seven books, including "60 Strategies for Success in School", a Singapore national bestseller in 2002. (Information on his books can be found at http://www.thehozone.com.) He has received awards for fiction and non-fiction writing, including prizes in the Singapore Writers’ Festival “Cyber-writing Contest” (2001) and the Economic Society of Singapore-Monetary Authority of Singapore Essay Competition (Open Category) (2003).
Brought up in a Christian family, Wai Luen’s inherent scepticism of claims of the supernatural has prompted him to carefully examine his childhood faith. “The Word on the World” is a summary of Wai Luen’s ruminations on faith and his reflections on the ability of the Bible to describe the state of the modern world.
